double knit

2.26
on this day, the sun was warm but the wind was brisk.  it felt like the perfect time to wear knitted things with strappy shoes.  and i must say that i am in love with the length of this skirt.  the hem falls just past what we now trendily call 'midi' and a touch short of what we consider to be 'maxi.'  it's a good longer length for me.  i must needs find more of these :)
and the shoes are fast becoming my favorites.  they have kind of an edgy vibe going, which i like.  and the wedge isn't so high that i'm in pain within 30 minutes of wear.  all of these are wins in my book.

work wear

2.25
this is what i wore on saturday for a day at my shop.  a full day at amandromeda means comfort is key.  i'm constantly getting up to help customers and trying my hardest to be hip and cool for the younger crowd (and using those terms alone shows just how hard i have to work).  so i threw on my favorite jeans and tee, but dressed it up a bit with my blazer and fringy necklace.  and if i'm going to wear a heel, these are the best to wear for all day-low enough to be comfortable, but still giving a bit of height.  plus, the color makes me happy.  and i finally got to wear the bracelet that matt bought me for valentine's!  sweet man hacked into my etsy favorites and bought it for me on the sly.  he's a keeper.
and i got a wee visit from laura of darling lola and her husband, bear.  they stopped in at the shop on saturday while visiting in the area.  it was great chatting with both of them and planning out our road trip to austin in a couple weeks!  i'm getting pretty excited for TxSC.  just so you know.

good times

2.19
it was a pretty fantastic weekend.  good food, good music, good drinks, good friends, good deal on cute little red shoes from salvation army.  we went to tulsa on saturday for some shopping, then came home to feast on mussels and hang out.  the weather was dreary and cold, but sunday brought on the brilliant sunshine and warm temps.  the kind of day that makes you really excited for summer.  so i slipped on my little red shoes and grabbed my photographer to shoot some pics and learn the ins and outs of our new camera.  she's a beauty but we're still getting used to her fancy settings.  and once we do, you guys just better watch out :)

currently

reading:
the blind assassin.  i am quickly becoming a big fan of margaret atwood.  and even though i'm only about 40 pages into this book, i pretty much love it.  totally recommend it if you're looking for something new.  i've kinda been a reading fiend lately.  i screamed through the hunger games series and recently finished a memoir by christina haag called 'come to the edge.'  all very good books.

listening to:
james vincent mcmorrow.  absolutely amazing.  check him out.

eating:
brussel sprouts!!!!  officially obsessed with them.  this is the dish we had for valentine's day.  roasted brussel sprouts with red bartlett pears, shallots, and thyme.  toss with olive oil and salt and pepper.  roast at 400 for 30 minutes.  you won't be sorry.

wearing:
my favorite blue hooded sweatshirt.  like every single day.

training for:
the oklahoma city marathon.  i think.  i haven't signed up yet, but i think i'm gonna do it.  maybe.  jury is still out.

a lovely evening

2.14
i love valentines.  i do.  and yesterday was pretty great.  it was a simple affair, but no less memorable.
the evening started out rushed and stressed, but as soon as the kiddo went to bed and we slowed down, turned on the civil wars and popped open the champagne, everything fell into place.  we had an appetizer of olive tapenade with rice crackers.  dinner was grilled salmon with roasted brussel sprouts, bartlett pears, shallots, and thyme.  and strawberries in balsamic over vanilla coconut milk ice cream with a dark chocolate garnish for dessert.  we ended the night with the lights down low, listening to james vincent mcmorrow and bon iver.  yep.  pretty magical.

red and fur

2.12
so hey.  long time no post.  last week was full of cold dreary days and frankly all i wanted to do was wear cozy clothes and read the hunger games.  and that's exactly what i did.  then the sun finally came out over the weekend.  well, until i actually wanted to take photos.  then the clouds rolled in.  oh well.  now i'm bundled up on the sofa watching the snow fall.
i wanted to wear something slightly romantic to kick off this valentine's week and i can't think of a whole lot that beats red and fur.  i keep thinking i'm going to get rid of this crazy skirt because it's a little bit much for me, but i can't seem to do it.  it's just too much fun.  you know it's actually from gap kids?  it has an adjustable waist.  shhhhhhhhh.......don't tell anyone :)

a day of mourning

2.6
yesterday was a day of mourning.  my patriot's stunning loss to those stinking giants in the super bowl hit me pretty hard.  i won't even try to describe to you the atmosphere in my house sunday night.  suffice it to say, IT WAS BAD.  and i had all these plans for a celebration post for monday with all our super bowl pics, but i just hadn't the heart to do it.
however, i did resist the urge to don sackcloth and ashes.  instead i went for my old stand-by: shirt and leggings.  i tried to class it up a bit with my new jacket from jcpenney and my favorite vintage teal pumps.  shades of black and gray because i'm sad, but a spot of color to remind me that good days are still to come.
i am always, a pats fan for life :)
